Philanthropy Day: Call for Nominations

November is National Philanthropy Month, and the greater Spokane region is eager to celebrate the commitment, generosity and vision of this community’s exceptional philanthropic leaders and their causes.

Your role is important—and easy.  Simply submit your nomination in one or more categories for an individual or organization that deserves recognition for their generous contribution to the life of our community.  Think broadly as you consider your nomination—philanthropy comes in many shapes and sizes.

The Philanthropy Day Committee is offering a special recognition this year:  each award winner will receive a $250 grant to be made in their honor to the charity of their choice.

Award winners will be recognized in a special section in the 25 October issue of the Journal of Business and at the November Downtown Rotary, Inland Northwest Development Council and other meetings.

Nomination forms are available at www.inwcomfound.org or here./documents/2007 Inland Northwest Philanthropy Day Awards.doc Nominations must be received by October 1, 2007 Please return nominations to INCF, 221 N Wall St, Suite 624, Spokane, WA 99201-0806 or fax to (509) 624-2608.

President's Update

Fall is definitely here. The kids are back in school and the air is cooler at night. S we move forward into fall and another year of INDC meetings, be sure to mark your calendars. We have made a few changes from the results of the survey you returned to us this summer. We are happy to have a new location for the membership meetings. We will be at Gonzaga University. This will be a closer location with plenty of parking (no one will be ticketed no matter where you park.

Thanks to the support and hard work of many different development officers, Philanthropy Day is back! Please help support this event by nominating your favorite philanthropic donor. You should have already received the applications. If not, you’ll find them on our Web site: www.INDC.net.

Please find a non-profit friend who is not a member of INDC and invite them to our Membership Reception on November 1st. This will be a great chance to network with others and share the benefits of INDC with others. We will have a forum of the Philanthropic Day winners telling us why they give to their favorite non-profits.

Don’t’ forget to bring a friend to the regular membership meeting on September 26th. Our format of meeting is the same. We have two programs, one before lunch and one following lunch. They are: Fundamentals: 11a.m.-12 p.m., Networking Lunch: 12 p.m.-12:30p.m. and Delving Deeper: 12:30 p.m.-2p.m. Remember, you don’t need to attend both meetings. Please come and spend as much time with us as will fit your busy schedule. We’ll do our best to make it well worth your time.

See you all soon,

Kerry Wiltzius
